NON-FISHING ACTIVITIES

The following list has been put together at the request of some clients who are accompanied on a Belize mothership trip by someone who does not fish. Even though we have seen many examples of these "non-fishing types" getting captured by the excitement of the Belizean waters and enjoy at least some time accompanying their fishing partner, other activities are available.
If you are interested in the last three items on this list, they usually can be arranged with a day or two notice after you are on board; however, to be 100% sure that a guide/driver can be arranged, advance planning is the only sure-fire method.

Non-fishing things to do while on a mothership cruise:

* Read, relax, swim, and sunbathe - a stereo system which utilizes CD's on board.

* Play cards or games; utilizing the VCR and TV monitor to watch some favorite tapes you brought from home.

* Snorkel with your own personal "reef guide" to show you the wonders of Belize's barrier reef - the second largest in the world. Comfortable snorkel equipment is critical to getting the full enjoyment from this experience - you are encouraged to bring equipment that you know fits your body (i.e. mask, fins with booties, snorkel).
* Visit Ambergris Cay and the famous village of San Pedro (about a 45 minute boat ride from Long Cay).
* Visit some of the cays which have resorts.
* Take a trip via skiff up the Belize River - see howler monkeys, iguanas, crocodiles, and the tropical rain forest.

All of the above are included in your inclusive price. The three suggestions below would require a private tour guide with a car or advance arrangements with a scuba diving resort. This can be arranged for an extra charge.
After a boat ride to Belize City (about 30-45 minutes from Long Cay) meet a tour guide and:
* Visit the Mayan ruins at Altun Ha, about 45 minutes from Belize City.
* Visit the Belize Zoo, about 1 hour from Belize City.
* Scuba dive with one of the many dive resorts near the barrier reef.
